What to Expect

When you arrive onsite, you’ll be asked to fill out some paperwork. This screening process is critical to ensure you are safe to enter the MRI environment. You will then be asked to change into your pants and gown for safety reasons, as some clothing cannot be in the MRI environment. Your MRI will be loud but rest assured we will be given earplugs or headphones to listen to music. It’s very important that you can lie on your back for 10-45 minutes, depending on the exam your doctor ordered. Your care and comfort is always our priority so we’ll provide cushions and padding to help insure it’s as comfortable as possible.

FAQ

MRI is a useful tool in diagnosing many pathologies that can’t be seen with the naked eye. MRIs are used to help your doctor treat your symptoms.  For example, your doctor may order an MRI of your lower back because you have back pain and right leg pain.  The MRI images will show your vertebral bones, vertebral disk space, nerves, and muscles. The Radiologist will evaluate the images and give a report to your ordering doctor to help him or her diagnos your back pain.

The large bore design of our MRI machines means you’ll experience a more comfortable MRI, regardless of your size. The larger cylinder and the short depth of the machine give it a less claustrophobic feel, as much of your body (including your head) is actually out of the machine during many types of scans. We also have anesthesia available for MRI for patients who may be claustrophobic, anxious, in pain, or unable to remain still for an examination.

We take thousands of images while you are in the MRI and the high field strength of our machines means that our images are clear, accurate and fast. On average our MRI scans take 10-45 minutes. Our goals it to have you spend less time in the scanner and more time getting on with your life.

An MRI is noisy because the machine uses gradients that turn on and off thousands of times during your MRI. We will provide earplugs and headphones with music to help block the noise and pass the time.

Our machines allow for fast MRI results, allowing us get the results of your scan back to your physician in typically less than 24 hours.
